The next meeting of the Southern HOGs is scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2015, 10:00 a.m. – Noon at the Sheraton Hotel, 555 S. McDowell Street, Charlotte, NC 28204. This Southern HOGs Meeting is being held in conjunction with the first Annual Meeting of ITS Carolinas, more information about the ITS Carolinas Meeting can be found at www.itscarolinas.org. We hope you will attend the Southern HOGs Meeting, and then stay for the ITS Carolinas Annual Meeting! A specific session on Incident Management will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. For the Southern HOGs Meeting, coffee will be provided at 9:30 a.m., as will a working lunch at 11:30 a.m. for the Southern HOGs Meeting attendees.
This meeting is important, for it will bring all of us back together to continue our 2015-2016 regional incident management activities. As you know, the Southern HOGs group meets to discuss and resolve operational issues affecting agencies whether they be regional, in-state entities, or cross-border jurisdictions within sub-sections of the I-95 Corridor. The Southern HOGs group is structured to encompass all traffic operations, maintenance, and incident management and response disciplines, including TMCs and DOTs, Law Enforcement and Public Safety, Fire Departments and EMS, Emergency Management Offices, local/regional operating authorities including toll agencies, and associated entities such as AAA, truckers, and towers. All are most welcomed to attend the meeting! Meetings are unique in that they bring together policy, planning, and management personnel with the “rubber-meets-the-road” incident management and operations personnel, including first responders, TMC Operators, DOT Maintenance personnel, and the like. Understanding the needs of all disciplines is key to effective, efficient, and safe traffic management and incident response.
We will be having a brief demo of “tools you can use” – the I-95 Corridor Coalition’s Regional Integrated Transportation Information System (RITIS) and the Collaborative Decision Tool. RITIS is available now for use by each of you, provided by the I-95 Coalition with free access. It is particularly handy when you are working with significant events such severe weather/hurricanes on a regional basis.
For food headcount purposes, kindly RSVP to Coalition Support Dotty Drinkwater at DottyD@aol.com no later than September 1, 2015.
